The Pascagoula plant has been in operation since April 1963. It is situated in the Bayou Casotte Industrial Park, east of downtown Gulfport, Mississippi. Chevron Phillips Chemical maintains several chemical production units within the Chevron Corporation Pascagoula Refinery. The benzene production facility at the refinery is owned by Chevron Phillips Chemical and operated by refinery personnel. The facility controls over 3,000 acres adjacent to the Mississippi Sound. Since only a portion of the property is developed, about two-thirds of the acreage consists of wetlands and forestland.
