Operational Excellence

CPChem’s Operational Excellence (OE) system outlines expectations and requirements to minimize impacts and comply with applicable regulations, laws and internal policies.

We believe community engagement and collaboration are essential to OE, and we welcome input from employees, contractors, neighbors, consumers, and regulatory agencies

Our OE system supports safe operations at CPChem facilities worldwide. It promotes accountability at every level by assessing and managing risk and reviewing performance against industry compliance metrics and operational goals.

Our Journey to Zero

Our Journey to Zero, the company's Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) Strategy, gives us a clear blueprint for eliminating high potential/high consequence personnel and process safety events. CPChem is proud to be among the top companies in its industry for personal and process safety performance. Successful safety performance is earned by holding each other accountable, supporting one another and performing our work the right way, every time.

Our principles prioritize the protection of personnel over production. We ask all of our employees and contractors to take time and care to do the job right, and to always feel empowered to speak up about safety concerns.

As a part of the 2017 roll out of Our Journey to Zero, CPChem introduced a high consequence and high potential incident reporting program. Having extended our focus, we share lessons learned from high potential consequence incidents and install corrective actions to prevent their occurrence. Through programs like Our Journey to Zero, we have achieved top safety performance in our industry.

    • CPChem’s Bartlesville, Cedar Bayou, Conroe, Orange and Sweeny, Old Ocean & Clemens facilities earned a spot among the nation’s top safety performers.

    • CPChem’s Bartlesville, Borger, Conroe, Kingwood, Pasadena and Orange facilities were recognized in 2023 with American Chemistry Council Responsible Care® Safety Awards
  • Texas Chemistry Council Safety Awards
    • CPChem received 11 safety awards for our operational excellence and our commitment to reliable operations, safety and community support.
  • Singapore Chemical Industry Council Responsible Care Awards
    • CPChem’s facility in Singapore was awarded the Excellence Award for Process Safety Code, as well as the Gold Award for Employee Health and Safety Code.
