Our Approach to Social Responsibility

CPChem conducts business with a focus on Social Responsibility, as reflected in our tagline, Performance by Design. Caring by Choice. ™

We invest considerable time, talent, and resources to make a lasting, meaningful impact in the communities where we operate and across the globe. Our Social Responsibility efforts are centered around three key priorities.

Do Our Part to Protect Human Rights

Inspire our current and future workforce by investing in education and fostering a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Improve quality of life

Maintain a workplace that prioritizes health, safety, and well-being of its personnel and communities.

Increase economic prosperity

Leverage CPChem’s products, enterprise and philanthropic activities to enrich global communities and promote equitable access to economic opportunities.

Protecting Human Rights

At CPChem, protecting human rights means increasing social equity and expanding access to opportunities in education and experience through community outreach. It also means providing a safe and inclusive work environment where employees have ample resources and support to thrive.

CPChem’s culture of diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) is infused within every part of our company, and we celebrate the unique perspectives and experiences of our workforce. Our collaborative work culture encourages employees to make their voices heard, share ideas, and engage with leadership.

CPChem promotes human rights through our commitment to the United Nations Development Goals(SDGs). These goals are designed to improve health, education, and financial growth for all, while addressing climate change and preserving the environment.

CPChem's Responsible Sourcing program guides procurement practices so that products and services are acquired in an ethical, sustainably focused and socially conscious manner. In the U.S., this program works to identify and embrace businesses inclusive of minority groups, women, veterans, LGBTQ+ and others with a disability-owned business, as well as small business enterprises, and bring them into the company’s supplier diversity program.

Prioritizing Health, Safety & Well-being

The health, safety and well-being of our employees, neighbors and communities are fundamental to all of our operations across the globe.

Our Journey to Zero, the company’s strategy for Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS), gives us a clear blueprint for eliminating high-potential, high-severity personnel and process safety events.

Our EHSS strategy empowers the workforce to identify and stop unsafe behaviors and actions. It also guides how we train employees and contractors on

the Life Saving Rules and adhere to CPChem’s Tenets of Operation. This is a universal guide for decision-making for every task, every day. It reflects our promise to work safely, or not at all.

CPChem educates the public about the safety of chemicals and participates in advocacy efforts to regulate chemical safety and enact measures to protect people and the planet.

Caring for Communities

We support local and global “neighborhoods” through our actions, products, and philanthropic activities. Employees at CPChem are immersed in their communities and have volunteered tens of thousands of hours supporting causes they care about. Financially, CPChem’s charitable contributions and in-kind investments aim to elevate programs spanning education, safety and well-being, sustainability and more.

We are proud to hold trusted relationships with community stakeholders, established and maintained through several of CPChem’s unique and rewarding

initiatives. CPChem offers dependent scholarships and sponsors opportunities in education and trade schools for students interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). We believe that enhancing knowledge and skills propels our sustainable growth and enriches communities by creating new jobs and generating positive effects within local and global economies.
