THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (May 1, 2009) - Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC (Chevron Phillips Chemical) today announced the appointment of J. Stephen Farrand, of Chevron Corporation, to the company's Board of Directors. Farrand replaces Patricia Yarrington, who has been named Chief Financial Officer of Chevron Corporation.
J. Stephen Farrand has been Assistant Treasurer at Chevron Corporation for Credit and Receivables Management since January 2005. He is responsible for the oversight of Chevron's global credit exposures and practices.
Farrand joined Texaco in 1989 and held various financial and analytical positions in Houston until being named Manager of Revenue and Royalty Accounts in 1996. Following that assignment, he was named Financial Manager, Upstream Operations in Bakersfield, California, in 1998. In 1999, he was named Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer and then served as Texaco's Director of Corporate Planning and Business Analysis until the merger in 2001 when he joined Chevron Corporation.
Following the merger, Farrand was named Regional Finance Officer for Chevron Downstream operations in Latin America, working in Coral Gables, Florida. Farrand worked as Group Audit Manager, Worldwide Downstream in 2004 until being named Assistant Treasurer at Chevron Corporation for Credit and Receivables Management in 2005.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Farrand earned a bachelor's degree in finance and economics from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a master's degree in finance from the University of Houston. He also holds a Certificate of Management Accounting.
