Chevron Phillips Chemical’s outstanding safety performance in 2022 at eight of its Texas facilities has earned it 25 safety awards from the Texas Chemical Council.
The facility in Orange, Texas, earned the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center Award, which celebrates innovations in process safety.
CPChem facilities also earned the Dr. Sam Mannan Award for Zero Process Safety Incidents and the Zero Contractor Incident award.
Elliott Johnson, CPChem’s vice president of environmental health, safety and operational excellence credited employees’ “commitment to safety and operational excellence” for TCC’s recognition.
“We are so proud of our teams’ hard work and dedication toward making these safety achievements possible,” Johnson said. “At CPChem, we live by a culture of Performance by Design. Caring by Choice™ and are guided by Our Journey to Zero. These recognitions affirm that our safety initiatives are helping us to advance ever closer to this goal.”
CPChem’s safety program, “Our Journey to Zero,” is designed to maintain a high level of operational excellence, which results in better safety performance while building a caring workplace culture and improving the company’s environmental impact.
“We congratulate the 2023 TCC Award winners for their remarkable efforts in safety performance,” TCC President Hector Rivero said. “We look forward to spotlighting operational excellence in our industry and hope that their achievements serve as motivation to others in the industry and across manufacturing.”
TCC announced the safety awards in June.
