JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA (June 20, 2007) - Two of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company's (Chevron Phillips Chemical) Middle East ventures have been honored in recent weeks for outstanding environmental stewardship efforts. Saudi Chevron Phillips (SCP) and Qatar Chemical Company Ltd. (Q-Chem) facilities have been recognized for exemplary environmental practices and sustainable development efforts in the region.
On June 5, Saudi Chevron Phillips was awarded the third place honor in the Annual Royal Commission Environmental Awards, presented for progressive environmental policy and sustainable development efforts. The award honors those in the industry committed to the cause of environmental stewardship, and whose efforts comply with Royal Commission Regulations. The award was presented on World Commission Environmental Day, June 5, 2007, in Al-Jubail.
"Saudi Chevron Phillips aims to be a role model in the region for environmental policy and sustainable development," said Elija Andjelich, president of Saudi Chevron Phillips. "We will continue to explore ways to improve our environmental performance to ensure our status as a good neighbor in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
Q-Chem was also honored on May 29 by receiving the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) Prize for the Best Environmental Activities Program, which recognizes organizations for environmental stewardship. GCC presents the award to encourage environmental protection and sustainable development as well as to inspire organizations to create goals in accordance with current environmental objectives.

"We strive to contribute actively in the development of Qatar while continuing to protect the environment. We are honored to be recognized as a leader in environmental best practices in the State of Qatar by the Gulf Cooperation Council."
Q-Chem is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (51 percent) and a wholly owned affiliate of Chevron Phillips Chemical (49 percent). The Q-Chem Complex has been in operation since 2003. SCP is a joint venture between Chevron Phillips Chemical (50 percent) and Saudi Industrial Investment Group (50 percent). SCP facilities have been in operation since 1999.
