La Porte Engineering Polymers Compounding Plant Receives VPP Star Designation
LaPorte, Texas (August 12, 2008) - The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has officially designated Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP's (Chevron Phillips Chemical) La Porte Engineering Polymers Compounding Plant as a VPP Star site for its exemplary health and safety programs. The plant will conduct a formal flag raising ceremony to mark the designation on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 in La Porte.
Chevron Phillips Chemical President and CEO Greg Garland will attend the ceremony, in addition to Chevron Phillips Chemical senior management, La Porte plant management and over 50 invited guests.
La Porte Plant Manager Russell Morris said the event will recognize the plant, but more importantly the plant's employees, for their consistent efforts to meet the company's safety expectations.

La Porte's VPP Star designation recognizes facilities that operate with exemplary safety performance. The designation recognizes plants that exhibit a true culture of safety, initiated by the plant's management team and embraced by the entire workforce.
About the La Porte Compounding Facility
Located in La Porte, Texas, the La Porte Engineering Polymers Compounding Plant was completed in March 2003, with the first compound produced shortly thereafter. The 49,000 square foot facility is part of the Katoen Natie Houston Polymers Terminal warehousing facility, which contains a twin-screw extrusion line used to produce Ryton® PPS compounds.
