FAIRFIELD, Iowa (Nov. 16, 2007) - The Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSH) has officially designated Performance Pipe's Fairfield, Iowa, facility as a VPP Star site for exemplary adherence to health and safety programs. The plant will conduct a formal flag raising ceremony to mark the designation, which will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in Fairfield.
Iowa State Representative John Whitaker and Fairfield mayor Ed Malloy will attend the ceremony, in addition to Chevron Phillips Chemical senior management, Performance Pipe senior management and over 50 invited guests.
Fairfield Plant Manager Mike Hemm said the event will recognize his plant, but more importantly the plant's employees, for their consistent collaboration to represent the company's safety values.
"Simply put, our employees are our most valuable commodity and we will strive for the safety and the trust of those who work here in Fairfield," Hemm said. "We intend to continue to value the health and well-being of our employees above all else, while setting an example of safe workplace behavior for the rest of the industry."
Fairfield's VPP Star designation was officially granted on September 27, 2007. The award recognizes facilities that operate with exemplary adherence to health and safety programs. The designation recognizes plants that exhibit a true culture of safety, initiated by the plant's management team and embraced by the entire workforce.
