Performance Pipe's Fairfield Facility Receives VPP Star Designation

WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. (May 20, 2008) - Performance Pipe's Williamstown facility was awarded the 2007 Kentucky Governor's Safety and Health Award at the 2008 KOSH Safety Conference, held in Louisville. The facility was also recognized by Kentucky's Voluntary Protection Partnership (VPP) for its outstanding mentoring efforts by receiving the first VPP Mentoring Flag ever awarded by the state.

The Governor's Safety and Health Award provides special recognition for outstanding safety and health performance and encourages development of programs, which reduce and eliminate occupational injuries and illnesses in Kentucky's workforce.

Additionally, Williamstown's Safety Specialist, David Parsons, was recognized for Outstanding Mentoring Performance by VPPPA Region IV for his dedication and commitment to safety and health excellence as a VPP-certified mentor to other manufacturing sites. Parsons also received VPP Special Government Employee certification in February, which qualifies him to conduct OSHA audits at other facilities. Parsons was nominated on behalf of Performance Pipe by GE Aviation after mentoring their facility. So far, Parsons has mentored more than six other facilities.

"These awards are a truly great honor and I'm proud that David and our facility have been recognized as leaders in safety excellence," said Plant Manager Phil Foley. "Our safety success is an effort of all our employees. Everyone has to do their part to make our safety process successful," he said. "Here in Williamstown, we value the safety of our employees above all else, and we will continue to strive for zero incidents at our facility."

Performance Pipe's Williamstown plant produces polyethylene pipe and tubing. It is located on 33.4 acres of land in northern Kentucky, one mile from Interstate 75.
